Aaliyah Haughton made headlines after 1994 when she debuted her debut album Age isn't just the number. Her album, which was made available at just 15 years old, went Gold. R. Kelly was a key influence on the collaboration that put her in the spotlight. The year 1996 saw her release her second album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album contained the number one hit track If Your Girl Only knew. Aaliyah received international recognition for her R&B vocals on the album. In 2000 she starred in the romantic action film Romeo Must Die alongside martial artists Jet-Li. Joel Silver, film producer and director of Romeo Must Die spotted her at an awards ceremony. In 2002 she was in the vampire film Queen of the Damned based on the Anne Rice book. In 2003, she starred in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. She is the first generation Indian-American who was born in Connecticut. Mann is an abbreviation of her married first name Mankad. She employs Aarti Man and Aarti Mahumdar for her stage name. Though her first career was dominated by minor movie and TV roles, she gained more prominence in the mid-2000s. She has also appeared in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy as well as Grey's Anatomy. The actress also appeared in a variety of commercials that included Volvo and other major automobile brand names. Her home is within Los Angeles with her husband and daughter. She will continue to pursue an acting profession.
